Tou ze (A Simple Life) (2011)

That is the praise of life, whatever it was not.

A simple life, a simple story, simple frames, simple and minimal means of expression, simple and long shots, which help to think some substantial and basic questions over.
A simple life, a simple, difficult old age, loneliness, passing away in heavy conditions of social care home.
A simple life, humility and the ability to find joy in small things.
A beautiful film about human relations, about taking care of another person, about human bonds, which can be so fragile but also can be strong.

A simple way of filming (people, action, animals, events, etc), simple, long stops in the frame (equipment, things), a simple and bright light, a simple music, in long parties of the film – no music, simple and perfect characterization and makeup.

No-simple, because real and reliable actors and actresses as tenants (eg. Paul Chun as ribald Uncle Kin) in a nursing home and employee (Hailu Qin as Ms. Choi).

Genius, great and wonderful Deannie Yip as Ah-Tho, who showed the process of pasing away in very delicate way.
Perfect Andy Lau as Roger Leung. About half way through the film, the main character changes ... he becomes more sensitive and gentle towards Ah Tao
Yes, he always respected and loved her, but his relationship became more personal

All elements summarized by director Anne Hui in susceptive, actual, without any embellish way.

Beautiful, valuable, touching, emotonal and giving to think film.

I cried a lot ….

Thank you for reading.
