HUNG SAU DOU (THE EMPTY HANDS) (2017)

A Hong Kong film about Japanese tradition.
But it is not the kind of tradition that is important, but the tradition in itself.
It is what gives us strength and power to overcome all adversities.

The plot is quite simple: unrequited romance, disagreement with the last will of the deceased father, growing internal tension, more frequent drinking, which could lead to alcoholism, consequently rebellion, and ... finally - something breaks. Something is happening and changing for the better. Sometimes we are defeated (or we feel defeated), but this is apparent. An external defeat can become an internal win and can help to re-organize your own life and emotions.
And to understand it, one has to go back to tradition, to this system of values that parents give us.
Fortunately, the film is not inflated with pathos - we also have humorous inserts, like belt binding (brown!) or a friend without a brain, but with boobs (played by Dada Chan).

The film attracts attention with its implementation, which is due to Wai Kai Tam (director of photography). Personally, I really value these long parts of the film without any music or sound. Then, your conscience and feelings in similar situations in life are heard the best.
However, where music appears, it is the result of the work of Veronica Lee and the music department cew.

At the end, the actors:
Stephy Tang as Mari Hirakawa, initially a grumpy young lady who at the end of the film becomes a mentally mature woman. All of these feelings Stephanie gave very good and many women can identify with her.
Yasuaki Kurata as Akira Hirakawa - a fundamental, hard and consistent father and karate master.
Chapman To as Chan Ken, a former student of Akira, who was kicked out by Akira, but rehabilitated himself with a good deed.
Stephen Au as Mute Dog - you can compare him to such a good, honest uncle.

I would recommend! It is worth considering what gives us strength and in accordance with what we live!
