When the decision-maker is a cow - it means a woman versus the world ...
The film starts quite funny with the case of a false divorce for getting a flat. Unfortunately, the false divorce turns out to be real - ex-husband doesn't intend to marry the main heroine again. After the justice trial, she tries to get help from the local notables in an increasingly desperate way ...
Despite the difficult subject of the divorce of the spouses and the yearly suing to determine whether the divorce was true or false, we can watch the film smooth, relaxed, witty, with interest and reliably.... but that's all until ... .
Smooth - because the theme of divorce has appeared in world cinematography more than once
Relaxed - because the directing (Xiaogang Feng) and cinematography (Pan Luo) are reliably guided, without unnecessary pumping the atmosphere of the film
Witty - what is the contribution of the brilliant screenplay (Zhenyun Liu)
With interest - here again, the script, direction, editing, and camera operating.
Reliably - thanks to the art and artristy of actors beginning with Bingbing Fan at the forefront, as well as Guo Tao, Da Peng, Zhang Jiayi, Yu Hewei, Wei fan, Zonghan Li.
Noteworthy is also the characterization and selection of costumes, which greatly underlines the social origin of the heroine.
One would think that this is only a good comedy of manners, until we get to know the motives of the main character's actions.
Certainly, Mr. Jn Lian is not an alter ego to Madame Bovary. Mr. Jin Lian is a victim of a decision taken under the influence of social changes in China in the 1970s. Let me remind you - then the law of one child came into force (1977 - 2015), hence I am convinced that the Chinese don't watch this film and only as a comedy.
And what does the cow have in common with all this? .... Answer in the movie. I encourage you to watch.
